Our Story
From local cottages to Queen’s lace, bobbin lacemaking has long been part of Northamptonshire’s story.
Founded with the aim of keeping bobbin lacemaking alive and accessible, Rothwell Bobbins has welcomed complete beginners, experienced makers and curious visitors for nearly a decade. Our members range in age and experience, but we all share a love for lace, community and craftsmanship.

A New Chapter in Irthlingborough
In 2023, we moved from Rothwell to Irthlingborough. The spirit of our group remains unchanged; welcoming, creative and quietly determined.
We’re currently searching for a permanent home in the area where we can offer regular classes and host lace days, demonstrations and talks.

Community & Heritage
Lacemaking is more than thread and pins – it’s a part of our local identity.
Rothwell Bobbins celebrates the skills passed down through generations and supports Heritage Crafts in recognising the importance of endangered traditions.
Whether you’re dusting off your grandmother’s pillow or discovering lace for the first time, you’ll find a warm welcome here.
